TIG welding (Tungsten Inert Gas)

Client: rupertharris

Location: Glossary

Electric arc welding in which the arc is formed between a tungsten electrode and the work-piece, and filler wire fed into the weld-pool separately, all shielded by a continuous flow of inert gas, usually argon. The process uses a permanent non-melting electrode made of tungsten filler. Also called gas tungsten-arc welding (GTAW).
