Training

For many years we have been involved in specialist training for conservators and curators, including:

  • Conservation maintenance courses for the care of outdoor sculpture (practical demonstrations and lectures) for the National Trust
  • Training in the care of metalwork in historic house collections run by the National Trust
  • Training for emergencies and disaster planning for both the National Trust and English Heritage.

We can also work with your staff to establish guidelines for the cleaning and care of your collection, with hands-on training and demonstration of cleaning techniques and the ongoing monitoring of condition.

As part of our conservation project on the collection of English lead sculpture at the Palace of Queluz, we ran workshops on site at the Palace to train recently graduated Portuguese conservators in the conservation, restoration and maintenance of lead sculpture. The students also worked on the lead sculpture at our studios in London. This was part of the World Monuments Fund's initiative to ensure the sharing of knowledge and conservation skills and the continued care of the collection in Portugal.
