Natural Resins: Any number of film-forming substances found in insects or plants that provide the basis of natural coating materials, e.g., shellac, rosin, etc.
Synthetic Resins: Substances produced chemically to approximate natural resins. Their properties can be chemically manipulated so that certain defects of the natural resins (such as yellowing, or embrittlement) can be altered or eliminated.
