Interference colours

Client: rupertharris

Location: Glossary

Colours due to the action of light on a thin film, often seen when a lacquer is inadvertently applied too thinly to a metal substrate or when gilding paint products designed to produce such an effect are used. The film thickness must be on the order of a few wavelengths of light for the colours to appear.
