Hydrogen embrittlement

Hydrogen-induced cracking or severe loss of ductility caused by the presence of hydrogen in the metal. Hydrogen can be extremely mobile, and care should be used when processes that evolve hydrogen (acidic cleaning, for example) must be employed near metals such as steels that are subject to hydrogen embrittlement.
