BCC (Body-Centred Cubic)

Client: rupertharris

Location: Glossary

A unit cell in which atoms are situated at each corner of a cube with one atom in the centre of the cube. Each atom at the corners is shared by each neighbour. Because of the close packing, BCC metals such as barium, chromium, iron, molybdenum, tantalum, vanadium, and tungsten cannot be heavily worked but they have a good combination of ductility and strength.
