MODEL SHIP PRESENTED TO WINSTON CHURCHILL

Client: The National Trust

Location: Chartwell, Kent

Prior to conservation, this silver sailing vessel was largely in sound structural condition with full rigging. All surfaces however were very heavily tarnished. All surfaces were cleaned to remove all tarnish using silver dip and swabs. After a through rinsing with water the ship was dried and any high points polished to highlight. The ship was degreased using acetone and a coat of Covolac lacquer was applied to all surfaces. Now it will only require minimal maintenance - lightly dusting with a pony-hair brush.
