REPLICATION OF THE BORGHESE GLADIATOR

Replicated in 2008-9

Client: English Heritage

Location: Whitby Abbey, Yorkshire

We were commissioned to replicate a bronze of the 'Borghese Gladiator' to be erected at the Banqueting House of Whitby Abbey, which was built by Sir High Cholmley in the seventeenth century. This copy is taken from moulds of the bronze cast for Charles I by Hubert Le Sueur, by gracious permission of Her Majesty The Queen.  Our copy was cast in bronze using the traditional lost wax casting method.
